Thank you for your interest in working at Green Hills Retirement Community. We at Green Hills
seek qualified professionals that are not only knowledgeable and skilled in their field, but who
will complement our commitment of service to the residents of our town homes, apartments and health
care center. A large part of this commitment is called Person Directed Care. Any employee we ask to
join our Community will be required to make the same commitment. Employees will be expected to not
only make a personal pledge to Person Directed Care, but will be required to champion it through coaching,
role modeling and getting buy-in and participation from all staff.
We are very excited about Person Directed Care and want all potential employees to have a basic understanding
of what this means to both employees and the residents we serve.
Historically, nursing homes were built upon the medical model of care. This model emphasizes the diagnosis
of and treatment of patients. It reinforces a system of care where nursing procedures and schedules are based
on time and cost effectiveness. Person Directed Care emphasizes the individual resident. The resident is not
a diagnosis but a person who comes to us with individual backgrounds, lifestyles, and routines that our goal
is to maintain and foster. Person Directed Care is modifying our schedules and procedures to accommodate the
resident's schedule so that it may be as much like their routine at home as possible. Person Directed Care is
about making the resident become the focus of everything we do.
A large part of Green Hill's Person Directed Care philosophy is to enrich the lives of our residents and staff
through creating bonds among each. Our employees are expected to be comfortable socializing and interacting
with our residents of all abilities and limitations.
